Older dam modifications were causing property damage, dam was redesigned after hydrological study
Northstar prepared a hydrologic and hydraulic study of the Maranacook Lake watershed and the outlet dam. The study was designed to understand flow through the watershed, outflow through the dam and potential modifications to the dam to improve lake level management options. Residents along the lake have been experiencing higher lake levels since the dam was reconstructed several years ago. Northstar constructed a HECHMS model of the watershed, and a HECRAS hydraulic model for the bridge and dam . Northstar continues to work with the designer, the Towns of Winthrop and Readfield and the Cobbossee Watershed District across three phases of project planning from problem statement to alternative selection through construction phasing.
